Dr. Lorena Escudero: Pioneering Women in Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Escudero is a plastic surgeon at Luis Vernaza Hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the largest nonprofit general health center in the country.  Her primary areas of interest include brachio-plexus surgery and complex microsurgical reconstruction such as post-cancer reconstruction and complex traumas. She received her medical degree at Catholic University Santiago de Guayaquil, and was a fellow of hand and microsurgery at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Hospital Das Clinicas, University of Sao Paulo (USP) in Brazil.
